Autumnal

Nice word. We're still in butterfly season, and cactus are blooming still (pics later?). Butterflies below.

Butterflies

It's officially autumn, and the butterfly garden is doing what it should be doing; showing off lots of little critters. There's a lot of evidence that caterpillars have been chewing on butterfly weed, and we've got lots of butterflies flitting around besides. Most days, you can look out the window and see 3 or 4. Today, I counted six in various parts of the garden.

Fall season

Two weeks into autumn, and it still feels like summer here. Lots of stuff to be done this weekend, from general cleaning up to serious compost sifting, weeding, trimming back, etc. If it stays cool enough, I'm hoping to make this a busy day. Pics when things look pretty enough.

An inch here, a half-inch there...

And pretty soon there's four inches of water in the rain gauge. Yard is waterlogged again. Plants are going crazy. When it's not raining, butterflies are everywhere. Then again, so are mosquitos. Give and take, I suppose. Pics soon.

Whoops

I've completely forgotten to post for weeks! Our very wet summer continues, and butterfly weed, morning glories, and purple coneflowers are taking over everything. Will post pics and more news about cacti, birdies, and gardens soonest.
